Two of Iowa’s biggest off road clubs are joining forces to help raise money for local veterans in need. Make It or Break It (MIOBI) and Jeep Outdoor Club of Central Iowa (JOCCI) are planning an off road ride on October 8th and 9th. They will begin the ride bright and early at MIOBI’s wheeling grounds (around 7 or 8 am) near Hamilton Iowa, ride to the square in Pella for a cookout, and then to the JOCCI “farm” for some afternoon wheeling. The ride will continue in early evening with a trip back to the MIOBI grounds for some camping and wheeling on Sunday. You may also camp on Friday night to help you make the early departure time. There will also be a raffle of prizes and gift certificates donated by several sponsors. A few monster trucks will be on site for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
Veterans and current military will be invited to ride along on the road and trails for free. Each rig must donate $100 to participate. For insurance purposes, each participant must also be a member of the Midwest 4 Wheel Drive Association. You are automatically a member and covered by insurance if you are a member of any of these Iowa clubs:
If you are not a member of any of these clubs, its not too late to join. Most clubs have open enrollment and usually charge a discounted enrollment fee during the second half of the year. For more information on this event, contact Chris Menninga at 641-204-1356.

Wild Wade’s Swap Meet. This year’s event is scheduled for January 30, 2011, from 8 am to 3 pm in the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fair Grounds. The swap meet is your chance to get your motor-sports fix, even though it’s the dead of winter.
Last year’s show proved to be a success with hundreds of attendees shopping for new and used parts for stock cars, drag cars, street, and muscle cars. Vendors also had restoration parts and specialty off-road parts. There were tools, tires, wheels, Nascar stuff, literature, memorabilia, art work, and t-shirts. There was even a table selling old grind house movies and posters, and pinup girl prints.
Besides stuff to buy, there was also lots of cars, rat rods, and bikes on display. Local off road clubs, including the Iowa Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs, Midwest 4 Wheel Drive Association, Jeep Outdoor Club of Central Iowa, and Make It Or Break It were there with their rigs on display. Car and Off road clubs get a spot in the show free, if they contact the promoters in advance.
